Maria Szulc
Artist's statement by Maria Szulc: I got into photography by coincidence while completing my degree in English literature. Recently, I took a printing class with a master printer Brian Young at the International Center of Photography in New York and it had been a bliss to get back to the darkroom and see my images appearing on fibre. What I do is called street photography but I think of my work as 'fluke photography'. As Henri Cartier-Bresson said, the first 10,000 photographs are your worst and with luck, a good one comes up once a year. It may come or not but one thing is true, it's life that interests me, that's why I am photographing.
